Peaky Blinders: The Rise was an immersive theatrical experience in Camden, launched in the summer of 2022.

I ran the design department from the pitching process of this project, all the way through to key art development, merchandise and out of home advertising.

One of the largest challenges across the project was the initial artwork design. As the show was still in development, we needed to portray the feel of Peaky Blinders without using any recognisable actors from the show. After working closely with the brand across several silhouette-based concepts, we went with a ‘title central’ artwork, with the visual focus on the smoke and atmosphere which are synonymous with the TV show.

I was able to work in subtle references to the narrative of the show, including silhouettes of a cobbled Birmingham street with the fire behind rising to the London landmarks above, reflecting the Peaky Blinders journey. Once approved, I prepared a range of out of home marketing assets including LEPs, 4-Sheets, Digital Screen and Red Bus designs.

Another highlight for this show was being able to create an extensive merchandise collection, ranging from traditional apparel to a 50 page show brochure. Creating items for this range was gave me a unique opportunity to expand the branding I had developed out from the key art and into the clothing line, including lines from the show, company logos and variations of the artwork for posters.

In addition to creating the artwork and merch, I was able to contribute to some of the in show designs. Due to the immersive nature of the show, everything from signage to drinks tokens needed to feel 'in-world' which created an exciting opportunity for some unique designs. Some highlights whilst working on the in show designs included a 1920's inspired £1 bank note which was approved by the Bank of England, a repeat floral pattern used for Polly Gray's coat and signage around the venue.

Outside of the show, I created a variety of out of home promotional material for a high budget advertising campaign across Central London including 4 Sheets, D6, Red Bus T Sides and Tube ads.
